Air humidification and dust suppression
Humidification systems provide an effective means of meeting required limits, improving process flows and safeguarding the health of employees in many industries that produce significant dust emissions.
Observing limit values
Dust is swept up into the air as particle matter in waste incinerator plants, quarries, sorting and shredder plants, which is then carried into the ambient air as airborne dust and settles back as dust deposits. Maximum immission rates are listed in the Administrative Regulation "Technical Instructions for Clean Air" (TA Luft) and must not be exceeded. Air humidification on the outside or installed inside of collection and distribution halls can reduce dust right at the point of emission.
Dust suppression and odour containment
Inadequate humidity facilitates the development of dust and the intensity of dust swirl in indoor spaces. A humidity level of between 40% and 60%, on the other hand, ensures that the dust in the air is enclosed in a film of water. The absorption of water increases its weight and the dust particles fall to the ground, where they can be removed with ease. Adequate humidity cleans the air of dust faster, reducing the risk of fine dusts getting into the respiratory tract. Air humidification lowers the risk of dust explosions for dust from combustible materials. In addition to binding dust particles with the air humidification, odorous particles will be suppressed as well. Odour neutralisation is an important added benefit of air humidification in waste processing, but also for many chemical manufacturing processes.
